Kiehl's Blue Herbal Gel Cleanser(product review)

On my last visit to Mumbai I really had a long list of Mac products but unfortunately I ran out of time after shopping like mad at Zara and I had few minutes to browse when I reached at the floor where there are all cosmetic brands at palladium, Kiehls was closest and I ended up buying few things from there only, like - kiehl’s corrector, kiehls under eye cream and this pretty blue cleanser.

My experience:

Packaging:

It comes in a transparent bottle (my favorite packaging) with a flip flop cap. It has a strong plastic seal to prevent spillage.

Texture: It’s a blue gel. The consistency is runny. Very little quantity is required to clean whole face and neck, like about 4-5 drops are enough. In this way the bottle is going to last quite a long.

It‘s not a very foaming cleanser..In 4-5 drops it lathers a bit...I am actually used to foaming cleanser so it took me some time to adapt it and satisfy my self that my skin is cleaned. But as soon as I look in the mirror , I am all happy to see the clearer, matte and bright skin.

After cleansing my face with this in morning I could actually feel I can go out without make up. This never happened with me earlier.

When I wipe my face with toner cotton pad was clean, it means all the dirt and make up was perfectly removed...so I am satisfied.

I get pick kind acne all the time, pick acne that looks like big black head or you can call small Dane in Hindi...when I pick them they turn in to cystic ones...and every morning I do get white heads around the corner of nose and chin.

But with the regular use of this cleanser my white heads are actually disappeared completely and my heavy breakout are reduced...I don’t say it completely get rid of acne because there are so many other reasons for breakouts (external and internal)... but I can see instant reduction in the angry redness of my breakouts and gradually I have noticed a good change in my pick acne.

It controls shine in this humid weather for 3-4 hours , after 3-4 hours I had little shine on my t-zone but not as shiny or oily as compared to my last face wash(in this weather).But the best part is my skin didn’t lose its brightness even after getting this shine, it was still fair and bright. Otherwise with other face wash my skin loses its freshness and brightness as soon as it gets shiny/oily.

Every time I use it I get refreshing cooling sensation and minty or peppermint like fragrance. It controls my oil for long without making skin dry...

It’s too humid here in Bhopal because every time before rain it gets humid...and my other favorite face wash like Neutrogena and lakme are not able to do well... don’t know why...but I am happy I had this blue goddess...

Ingredients sounds really amazing...like ginger roots, cinnamon bark...

These things help in reducing acne scarring as well...and camphor is something unique, I never knew it can be used for skin.

Good:

It is affordable because the bottle is easily going to last for 2 months or more.

Helps to fight breakouts

Cleanses skin well

Overall I have liked it since I got... its going to finish I am really sad it’s not available here. It’s highly recommended for oily and acne prone skin .It may work well for dry skin beauties as it’s not drying my skin even when I have used it twice at the same time. (actually I believe in double cleansing but I ended up my cleanser and was feeling lazy so I washed my face twice (silly me) with this face wash only ..And even then my skin was not feeling stretched).
I just loved it for keeping my skin bright and clear.

Milk And Dairy Products Leads To Acne(My experience)

We all get acne...now n then …I m no more teenager still at times get sudden and
heavy breakout...well so as my younger brother who is actually a teenager ..

Last month he visited to a dermatologist and one really interesting thing came out of that meeting.

Other than general recommendation of medicines and creams, his doctor recommended him to stay away from dairy products because that exaggerates breakout, especially milk.

Reasons For Acne (Face Mapping)

My hubby always tell me not to worry about these acne , they will disappear if you work on your
life style and eating habits. Actually I get breakouts once in a while and that too on different
areas of face..Now I have realized he was always right...

Well I generally have pinhead type of acne... they are small and look like any big black head and
at times I do have cystic one.

While researching on the reasons for acne I found an interesting image...

Late Nights Causing Acne On Forehead(My Experience)

After resolving my cystic acne issues with proper diet & skin care... 

I was bit relaxed & happy to see my skin getting better than before...

but from last few days I have been noticing little acne on my forehead and 

was wondering why I have acne on forehead only… when I am maintaining the same care regime.

Then I came to know that my late nights are causing this acne specifically on my forehead.

Out break on forehead can be due to toxin build up. That toxin build up can be due to 

improper sleep routine. For e.g. I sleep around 2-3 am & wake up after 11 am. 

This is the worst time to sleep coz this is the time when lever doesn’t dispels toxin... 

our lever dispels toxins between 11 pm to 3 am..Hahaa I am totally opposite of this.

Sleep deprivation is one of the main reasons of acne on forehead.

Lack of proper sleep & stress imbalances hormones & that leads to toxins in lever & 

in turn leads to acne esp. on forehead. 

There can be other causes as well for forehead acne like: diet, dandruff, oil on scalp, 

hormonal imbalance, and genetic reasons. 

But in my case it is due to improper sleep & schedule. 

I never thought this can also be a reason for acne but I guess it plays a major role.

Fab India Tea Tree Toner (product review)

I have heard a lot about CTM (cleansing toning moisturizer) routine
but I have started following it since last year & I have actually seen my really
bad skin converting in to a good obedient skin :)
& when it comes to toner I have been skipping it on & off but from last 6 months I haven’t &
then only I could see some remarkable changes in my pore size & skin.

Here comes my experience with Fab India Tea Tree Toner that I am using from last three months.

Price: 150 INR for 200 ml (very affordable as it goes a long way)

Ingredients:

My skin loves all such amazing ingredients like salicylic acid that helps in controlling oil &
neem extracts that helps in controlling acne & bacteria, turmeric that helps to reduce acne &
its marks... wow...  And the main ingredient is tea tree & i actually pick anything with
tea tree as its very good for oily skin

My experience:

It’s a watery green liquid that smells strong like some medicated neem & tea tree oil but I like such smells & it vanishes after few seconds.

It comes in a transparent bottle with a flip flop cap that never leaks.

It doesn't tingle to my skin when I follow it with any other moisturizer but when I follow it
with my body shop tea tree night fade lotion it does tingle probably coz it also contains tea tree.

In summers it gives my skin cooling sensation which is really nice.

It does control my oil but not for more than 2 hours, which is slightly disappointing.

I could not see any help in controlling my break out or reducing the exiting acne but yes it
helps in controlling the occurrence of whiteheads on my skin.

Well the main work of toner is to reduce pore size & I don’t think so I have very large pores but
I admit I have seen a change in my pore size with a continuous use of this toner for around 3 months.

Conclusion: I loved the ingredients & the way it controls my white heads by improving my pore size
but I am still looking for some better option,as it neither controls oil for long nor does it reduce blemishes.. so I don’t think so I am completely satisfied with it.

I have been taking high frequency facials on & off from last 3-4 years. When I was in Indore I was regular customer of meenakshi sharan’s beauty salon “finer options at sayaji hotel”, from there only I came to know about high frequency treatment for skin & hair ,then I explored it at lakme vital indulgence program.

My experience with the high frequency facials was great. Initially I took 1 sitting in every 15-20 days for4 months, later I was going once or twice in a year. When I had clusters of cystic breakouts this facial treatment helped me a lot...

It removed my blackheads & made my skin smooth & glowing .It actually improved my skin texture & condition. I bought this product because of two things that caught my interest: blackhead elimination and warms up to 40 degrees Celsius. When they mentioned in the description, it will "eliminate blackheads for visibly clear and healthy looking skin", it does just that. Well my brother took 3 of them from me .so I am not with the original picture of the whole pack,i picked it from flipkart.

Well coming to my experience:

It has grainy texture but not very harsh on skin.

It smells not so very good but not an issue for me and as the direction says it has to be applied immediately otherwise you won’t feel that heating sensation so smell is not an issue for long .This warmness will last for few seconds only & will make u feel normal afterwards.

The results are really good coz I could actually feel soft & smoother skin after using this one tube only. And I have already finished three. It brightens my face & makes it look clean .I never felt over dried after using it but then too I apply my moisturizer.

And let me tell you why did they choose such kind of 6 tube packaging...coz it gets hardened after a while...i felt there is still some left in my tubes but I cant squeeze it & when I cut the end with scissors I saw its hardened.

For me it actually worked well... as  I used to think only facials are very helpful for removing blackheads completely and I don’t go for facials very often so this mini facial kit is actually giving that facial effect to me.

I would suggest every one who have blackheads to try this & get clear & smooth skin.

Garnier Pure Active Pore Unclogging Face Wash(product review)

Hello friends I am back after a long break. And today I am reviewing Garnier pore unclogging face wash that I have been using from last 20 days.

Price: 79 INR for 50 g (very affordable)

My experience: I took it with me while travelling coz I thought it might be travel friendly as my earlier face wash is in bottle form with a pump dispenser & as you can see this one is in tube form.

But I was wrong this one was also not very travel friendly as it used to leak even when I closed the cap tightly.

Well coming to its effect, I would say it is nice coz it cleanses my face very well without leaving any residue. I wanted to remove my make up so instead of using any make up remover I used this face wash & it showed good results, cleansed almost everything other than mascara.

In Bhopal it’s little cold but I never felt over dry or stretched after using this but then too I never forget to use my moisturizer. (I have oily skin)

I can not say a lot about its acne controlling or reducing effect as I am using some other products as well for my acne. But I never had any new acne while using this & even I could see less blackheads, I can say it cleanses face deeply making it bright.

It smells beautiful; Just like mint & it’s runny in consistency.

It comes with tiny granules that may help in exfoliation.

It lathers well with little quantity & this tube last a long way.

Overall it’s a good face wash that cleanses face deeply but the only con is packaging.

5 Best Moisturizers For Oily Skin In Winters

Wintertime can be hard on the skin. Cold weather, wind, and dry indoor air can suck moisture from your skin. Add in the use of drying acne fighting products and medications, and you have a recipe for uncomfortable dryness, flaking, and peeling.

I had a reader’s query about this issue .So here I am doing a post as per my experience coz I also have oily skin & I have to change my skin care regime during winters.

1. Change Your Cleanser

While it may have been a great choice during the summer months, your cleanser may not be working for you now that the cold weather has set in. If you feel tight and dry after cleansing, you probably need to switch to a milder cleanser.

Cleansers containing salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide can be particularly drying, especially if you are using them in conjunction with other acne treatment products. Instead, try using a gentle foaming cleanser or bar, such as Dove or Neutrogena. You can always go back to an acne-fighting cleanser once the weather warms and your skin doesn't feel as dry.

2. Don't Be Afraid to Moisturize

Regular use of a moisturizer is important, even for those with acne. Remember, nearly all acne treatment products dry the skin to some extent. To avoid flaking and peeling skin, moisturizer is a must even if you have oily skin like me.

Neutrogena Fine Fairness Lotion & Neutrogena Fine Fairness Cream(I have tried both of them, but I always prefer to use the products specifically made for my skin type .So I think Neutrogena fine fairness lotion is great for oily to combination skin in all seasons)

Magnesium Sulfate for Acne(Home remedy)

Acne occurs when least needed. Especially in my case they always occur just a day before some party & on last eighteenth I hosted a teej party & as usual had two nodules(swollen acne) on my face & I was mad as a wet hen J(please some body tell my acne that I am no more a teenager)

And (dhan tanan) then my angel enters who solves all my problem (my hubby)

He says I will bring magnesium sulfate from our hospital’s medical store coz we use it to reduce swellings & in many medical preparations. (He runs his own hospital & an orthopedic surgeon; I wish he would have read dermatologyJ).

Though he forgets to even bother about it as soon as he reaches there but gave an amazing idea to me & then I got magnesium sulfate from my hospital’s medical store. Magnesium sulfate is easily available over the counter. You can also use Epsom salt which is another name of magnesium sulfate. But I never found Epsom salt anywhere.

Why magnesium sulfate: It has great anti inflammatory properties & healing agents. Magnesium sulfate is a chemical compound made up of oxygen, magnesium & sulfur. The substance has an extracting effect & traditionally used as bath salt to suck toxins & impurities from skin. My hubby said it will be good for reducing nodular acne & it also reduce excess oil.

As you can see in the image its granulated , so I have to crush It to make paste & then I mixed rose water with it & apply it on the affected area, I applied it 3 times a day & my swollen nodular was reduced to half in a day & redness disappeared. Don’t ever rub it directly on your skin its abrasive. I applied it 3 times in a day coz I was impatient but I won’t suggest any body to overdo this. Use it once or twice a day for 15-20 minutes & see the magic.

The Body Shop Tea Tree Blemish Fade Night Lotion (product review)

Whenever I see anything with the tea tree oil I grab it, so I got this body shop night fade lotion, shop assistant (SA) told me its good for oily skin & it can work for my blemished skin.

Price: 695 INR

Its main ingredient is tea tree oil. Tea tree oil have anti bacterial agents & which acts as a solvent. So it can stop oily matter from clogging up sebeceous glands & forming pimple.

My experience: I got it coz SA told me it’s good for oily skin& can reduce pimples & he was right .It actually reduces the size of my pimples in just one night.wowJ

It reduced oiliness of my skin leaving it soft & shine free every morning.

It absorbs in to skin & gives proper hydration to my skin.

My blemishes are lightened to some extent but didn’t disappear even after using two bottles of it. So, now I use only when I have any pimple.

Quantity: 30 ml

When I saw the bottle I thought I am going to finish it soon, but I was wrong just one pump is enough for my face .When I used it every night on my whole face, this bottle lasts for 2 months.It's with a pump dispenser , which makes it easy to use,hygenic & doesn't waste product. 

Conclusion: It's a good moisturizing lotion especially for oily skin as it controls oil & improves texture of skin. It doesn’t fade blemishes completely but controls breakout & small acne.

Lotus Tea Tree Face Wash (product review)

I generally use Neutrogena acne wash for my acne prone oily skin but last winters I gave a try to this face wash coz earlier one was making my skin little dry.

Price: 125 INR

Quantity: 80g

Ingredients:

Its main ingredients are tea tree & cinnamon. And both these ingredients are potent anti fungal & anti bacterial ingredient that helps in reducing acne & lighten spots. wowww:)

My experience:

It cleanses my skin very well by removing dirt & excess oil thoroughly.  

It’s a transparent gel kind face wash with tiny & soft granules in it which also helps in exfoliation.

It doesn’t makes my skin too dry because it doesn’t form lather I think it’s soap free (greatJ)   but I do feel little sticky on the corners of my lips & at times I felt it leaves a film behind if I wash my face in hurry or with cold water. (I normally wash my face with Luke warm water as I read some where it helps in controlling oil)

Its smell is very light & natural.

Conclusion: Overall I liked it as it controls my oil & I rarely had breakout using it. The only thing I didn’t like is a sticky feel on some parts of my face but that is not an issue if I wash my face with Luke warm water. I think it’s good for oily & combination skin.

My experience with the product:

I was ecstatic that I ALREADY felt a difference. After washing my face with this I wipe my face with rose water & my cotton ball was absolutely clean. My face was oil free for at least 4 hrs after that I just had a bit of shine on my face.

 It isn’t over drying for my oily skin but in winters I do feel like applying moisturizer after it.

 With the regular use in a very short span of time I can see it reduces my existing acne & reduces the formation of new acne & blackheads to an extent. So the claim of brand is all true here. I can say all this with some confidence because this is my second bottle .

Since I have started using it I never had breakout, except once when for 2 days I dint wash my face before going to bed. So this was my entire fault

This product is not only for oily skin but for all who are facing the problem of acne.
