Lakme Eye Color Quartet In Purple Oasis(product review)

be beautiful with punam
I am quite late in reviewing this “Purple Oasis Eye Color Quartet” from lakme. I like this quartet coz this is one is from my wedding makeup kit from my mommy . :)

I am not very good at eye makeup & all, but I tried this one few times & I liked the look.

Company’s claim: Versatile quartets of vivid, high intensity powders put together to color shape and highlight your eyes in an explosion of radiant color.

Price: 425INR

be beautiful with punam

My experience: All the four shades are shimmery & vibrant.

All the shades are well pigmented

This quartet is perfect for night make up look & parties’ coz the colors are quite vibrant. So it will be good for coming festive season
Lasting power is okay Tokay; it stays around 3 hours on my oily lids

It comes with a sponge applicator, which is of no use coz it won’t last for more than two usages & it doesn’t helps in blending at all.

Here are the swatches:

be beautiful with punam

Here is the eye make up I have tried with few of the shades from this quartet.
Consider my mistakes as I am not good at eye make up & I rarely use eye shadows.

be beautiful with punam

Conclusion: I think all the shades are shimmery & two lightest shades are quite similar, they should have given at least one matte shade. But I liked two dark shades a lot they can be used in varied eye look.

Have you tried this? Then please share your experience.

Keep smiling & be beautiful with punam:)

Revlon New Complexion One Step Make Up Compact(product review)

I am using Revlon one step compact from a long time .I got it in my wedding make up kit & from that time I am a huge fan of this .Actually I am a lazy person once I started liking something I don’t look for better options.:)Probably this is my third purchase of this compact & you can see in the image It’s almost finished, ok I am sorry I never take pictures as soon as I brought products

Price: Earlier it was 595 now it’s 700 INR

be beautiful with punam

Shade I am using is 01 Ivory beige:

be beautiful with punam
 My Experience:
It comes in a compact kind round khaki colored case which is really travel friendly & very light weight.

It has a mirror & a sponge compartment in separate.

I liked the sponge which is really soft but need to be washed in few intervals, which depend upon usage.

It has really soft & smooth texture which helps in blending easily & quickly.

It doesn’t makes my skin look cakey but show creasing after few hours esp. on eyelids.
It makes my skin glow & gives clear & natural finish.

I never opted for concealer while using this coz it covers my under eye dark circles quite nicely. (Sadly I have dark circles but not very dark)Truly it's a one step make up compact & always good when i am in hurry.

Coming to the most important thing i.e. coverage – it gives medium coverage (this is what company's claim). But no doubt it even outs my skin very well.

It's staying power depends on weather. In summers my oily skin needed touchups after 2 hours & in winters it stayed till 6 hours without any touch up.

Here are the swatches  & how it helps in lightening my veins & one dark spot on hand:

Conclusion: Overall it’s a good one step compact make up. It gives decent enough coverage to spots & dark circles. Good for all skin type as it’s really creamy in texture & never dries up my skin. It also has SPF 15.

Precaution For Waxing & Home Remedies For Bumps

Last weekend I had a reader’s query, who was troubled by some bumps & itchy skin after waxing. Just like me she also has very sensitive skin & due to all these problems she rarely goes for waxing, here are some precautions that can keep away all these problems:
1.     Always prefer good cleaned & hygienic parlors, don’t ever use reusable cloth strips for waxing. I never wipe with any cloth I always prefer to wipe skin with tissues.
2.   Avoid the sun immediately after waxing and wear sun screen; recently waxed areas are prone to hyper pigmentation (permanent darkening of the skin) if exposed to the sun or solarium. Avoid saunas, steam rooms, whirlpools and other heated sources for at least 48 hours.
3.   If your skin is very sensitive, avoid heavy exercise for at least 24 hours after waxing.
4.   Do not use exfoliating products (AHAs, scrubs, etc) and loofas for at least 24 hours after waxing as they might further irritate your skin & hurt bumps that used to come after waxing. You can try mild exfoliation after 24 hours, which can be helpful to remove dead skin so your hair can get above the surface of the pores & not become ingrown. Even you can exfoliate your skin for few days before waxing to make your skin soft ,this will also make waxing procedure easy & reduce chances of ingrown hair.(this one worked for me in upper lips waxing)
5.    Avoid tight clothing after waxing, especially in the waxed areas. Tight clothing may result in irritation and ingrown hairs.
6.   Moisturize with a tee tree or lavender lotion or Aloe Vera gels after every time you get waxed, this has a soothing healing, & antibacterial effect. Its good as ingrown solution, use this alone until the ingrown and redness is minimized. You can also dab some green tea on your skin.
7.    Routine waxing helps the skin get accustomed to the procedure and may minimize irritation. I always used to get afraid of the pain & bumps after waxing but gradually it’s reduced as my skin is habitual of this.
8.   Don’t go for waxing during your periods.
Many beauty salons apply an after wax lotion to reduce the discomfort and pain. Make sure that the lotion does not contain mineral oils as they clog skin pores, which in turn results in acne breakouts. If possible, take a grape seed oil to apply on the skin after waxing to provide comfort to you.
Rubbing ice cube is something we all know. But don’t apply ice cube directly on the skin put it in a cloth or plastic bag. I always used to get acne after eye brow threading & waxing but ice cubes (make cubes of rose water) & rustic art Aloe Vera gel helped me to reduce redness & acne after threading, I think it can work for waxing as well.

Aroma Magic Beauty Face Pack (product review)

be beautiful with punam

I rarely get time to visit parlor these days & my husband is a doctor so we never make plans, everything happens all of sudden. Every time he informs me for a dinner party in evening (i wish men will ever understand women’s take time to get ready. :)
So, I got this magic box with me, to get that facial glow & honestly it gave me that glow & my friends ask me when I get time for facials. :)
Price: Earlier I got it in 180 INR but this time I got it in 215 INR for 50g

be beautiful with punam

Amazing... my skin is smiling reading the list of ingredients.
In my college days i used to grind orange peels to use it as face pack, but now I can get the benefits of orange peels without that tedious grinding. Thanks to aroma magic...
My experience: It comes in a plastic tub with an extra foil lid covering the tub. The fragrance is light & not irritating at all.
The best part is its creamy & waxy texture. Which never makes my skin dry & stretched like what other face pack does. Even after washing, my skin never felt dry instead I have soft & brightened skin.
I have been using this from quite a long time & every time it gives lovely glow to my skin. It’s great when you want a quick fix to brighten dull skin. And the glow will last at least for two three days.
Direction to use says to keep it for 20 minutes but it doesn’t dry completely in 20 minutes so I take 10 more minutes to let it dry completely coz I think it works better if kept for longer duration.
It even out my skin tone & makes it look clearer.
It never broke me out even being so creamy .I think it can work great for all skin type coz its really creamy & moisturizing.
Conclusion: It’s a Holy Grail product for me. Probably I have no plans for visiting parlors till I have this product with me coz I get that brightness & glow at home with my choice of music instead of that boring instrumental.

Rustic Art Aloe Vera Gel(product review)

be beautiful with punam

We all know about the goodness of Aloe Vera & that’s why I plant it in my garden but it is so irritating to use the gel directly, isn’t it? Then my friend swati from "perfect skin care for you" suggested me this amazing product & I am madly in love with this.
Price: 150 INR for 100 Gms (very affordable coz it will easily last for 2 months)
Ingredients:Aloe Vera gel & lemon extract (as preservative)

be beautiful with punam
 My experience:
It comes in a transparent plastic jar (& you know I love transparent packaging) & the gel is color less just like actual aloe vera gel & smells like that only.
It will take few seconds to absorb in to skin & will make slight sticky & cool effect on skin but this will vanish after few seconds only & you won’t feel you are wearing anything on skin.
I have very oily & acne prone skin .So I was looking for a moisturizer that hydrates my skin deeply without making it greasy & oily. This aloe vera gel does the same thing for my skin.
I used it daily before going to bed & every morning I could see clean, soft & oil free skin.
I attended few parties last weekend & I used it before applying my foundation & it helped my make up look fresh for a long time without any touch ups because it controls oil completely at the same time keeping skin hydrated. Other wise foundation can show some dry patches on skin. This was the best thing it did for me.
It also helped in treating my daughter’s diaper rash & minor scratches & helps in healing my burns in 2-3 days only.
Conclusion: It is a multipurpose product & it can be used for treating allergies, itching, dryness, burns, diaper rash, acne & amazing for all skin type.Firms up skin ,gives perfect hydration & never broke me out.My skin is in love with Rustic art aloe vera gel.
Availability: Rustic art products are available on Natural

Neutrogena Deep Clean Gentle Scrub(product review)

be beautiful with punam

Neutrogena is one of my favorite brands. I have been using this brand from last 6-7 years & I love this brand. Well this time I got Neutrogena deep clean gentle scrub & I love to try new scrubs.
Price: 95 INR
Ingredients: water, sodium methyl cocoyl taurate, polyethylene, glycerin, cocamidopropyl betaine, stearic acid
They say main ingredient is beta hydroxy.
And I heard beta hydroxy is even better than alpha hydroxy coz it penetrates into pore that contains sebum & removes excess oil & exfoliate skin. It’s great for blackheads & white heads.
be beautiful with punam

My experience:
It’s a white scrub with tiny orange granules, which are not harsh on skin. It smells very light. It comes in a flip flop tube, which is easy to use & travel friendly. But I would have loved it if it had transparent packaging; coz it’s easy to see how much is left.
Very little quantity is required, so it can be used for a longer while.
It’s really good for exfoliation & cleanses really well. It helps in reducing existing blackheads to a great extent.
My face looked brighter every time after using it. I never felt dry or stretchy after using it instead I always felt soft & smooth skin but if you take slightly more quantity you may feel dryness.
It can be used daily coz it’s very gentle on skin but I don’t prefer to use scrubs daily.
It never broke me out & good for oily skin coz its oil free.
Conclusion: It’s a good daily scrub & I think its one of the best among all I tried for blackheads especially for my deep & old blackheads.

Magnesium Sulfate for Acne(Home remedy)

be beautiful with punam
Acne occurs when least needed. Especially in my case they always occur just a day before some party & on last eighteenth I hosted a teej party & as usual had two nodules(swollen acne) on my face & I was mad as a wet hen J(please some body tell my acne that I am no more a teenager)
And (dhan tanan) then my angel enters who solves all my problem (my hubby)
He says I will bring magnesium sulfate from our hospital’s medical store coz we use it to reduce swellings & in many medical preparations. (He runs his own hospital & an orthopedic surgeon; I wish he would have read dermatologyJ).
Though he forgets to even bother about it as soon as he reaches there but gave an amazing idea to me & then I got magnesium sulfate from my hospital’s medical store. Magnesium sulfate is easily available over the counter. You can also use Epsom salt which is another name of magnesium sulfate. But I never found Epsom salt anywhere.
Why magnesium sulfate: It has great anti inflammatory properties & healing agents. Magnesium sulfate is a chemical compound made up of oxygen, magnesium & sulfur. The substance has an extracting effect & traditionally used as bath salt to suck toxins & impurities from skin. My hubby said it will be good for reducing nodular acne & it also reduce excess oil.
be beautiful with punam

As you can see in the image its granulated , so I have to crush It to make paste & then I mixed rose water with it & apply it on the affected area, I applied it 3 times a day & my swollen nodular was reduced to half in a day & redness disappeared. Don’t ever rub it directly on your skin its abrasive. I applied it 3 times in a day coz I was impatient but I won’t suggest any body to overdo this. Use it once or twice a day for 15-20 minutes & see the magic.

Dabur Uveda Clarifying Face Wash(product review)

be beautiful with punam

We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things, because we're curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths. Walt Disney
When I brought this face wash probably I was very much inspired with this quote J (Well I am just in a mood to write quotes in my post today)
I wish not to be curious & be loyal to my best face wash i.e. Neutrogena oil free acne wash but whenever anything new enter into market I want to try that & just coz of that  few months back I tried uveda clarifying face wash.
Price -130 INR

My experience:
This face wash comes in a red flip flop tube which is not transparent & dear dabur I don’t like such products coz I cant see how much is left ,hope you note tisJ It is a transparent gel like face wash , smells natural & herbal but very light.
Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new. Albert Einstein . In my case I should put it that way: any one who never tried new things never made a mistake J coz using this face wash was really a mistake for me L
Well trying to be precise my experience was not that good with this face wash. Coz when I started using this face wash I was not having any pimple but this face wash gave me that as a gift after few days only J
It leaves a film on skin, when I wash my face with Luke warm water this feeling was less but not vanished
Every time I wash my face with it I could see my skin looking dull & not bright, but when I wipe my face with toner I couldn’t find any residue so probably it cleans skin but not deeply coz I think when skin is cleaned deeply it looks bright.
It could control oil on my skin for a long time without making skin over dry.(the only thing I liked)
So over all it was not a very good experience for my skin mainly coz it broke me out.

Biotique Walnut Bark Body Building Shampoo(product review)

be beautiful with punam
Long back I have tried few products from biotique & I don’t even remember there namesJBut I just remember I liked them: J
Well this time I picked something good from biotique hair care range. Biotique walnut barks shampoo. (For fine & thin hair) sadly I have very fine & thin hair. :(
I picked it quickly without giving a second thought coz my hubby always says walnuts are very good for hair (he ask me to eat them, obviously eating healthy can reduce all our beauty problemsJ)
Price: 159 INR for 210 ml (very affordable)
be beautiful with punam

My experience:
It is blackish brown in color & not very thick. It’s runny in consistency, which makes it easy to spread & lather nicely in a less quantity. It smells very natural just like Alma & all natural ingredients.
The best thing about this shampoo is it removes oil & dirt in a first wash only. Even when I apply oil on my hair & then wash them with this shampoo I get completely clean hair & scalp.
It did add some volume to my hair.
It gives good shine to my hair & makes them smooth.
It doesn’t have Sls, so for a change something that claims to be herbal is actually herbalJ
It smells very natural.
I don’t think so I have anything bad to say about it. I don’t have hair fall so cant say how it will work for hair fall problem but I heard from few people that it helps in controlling hair fall.
So overall it’s a good shampoo for oily hair coz it cleans them nicely.

Earthstore Pure Saffron Royal Handmade Soap

Babies have very gentle & soft skin. Every time I hold my baby I just love her soft & smooth skin & I always want it to be like that. For my baby’s skin I always prefer to use natural ingredients or products made by natural ingredients. So, that she can always have this soft & natural skin. And then I found this hand made soap, which is full of natural ingredients.

Price: 90 INR for 100 g
My experience :I am just loving this soap, I ordered it for my baby but when I smell it I couldn’t resist my self to try this.
It’s really moisturizing & gentle for skin. I generally massage my baby after & before bath, but while using this I don’t need to massage her after bath coz it kept her skin soft for a whole day & it does the same with my skin J.Its great for using in all seasons & for all skin & age group.
It smells amazing & that last for quite a long time.
As you can see in the image it have tiny granules, which helps in exfoliation, I love such soaps which have granules coz it’s rare in soaps.
The only con with this soap is that it melts very soon, it doesn’t last more than 10 days for me & for my baby it will last for 15-20 days.
Conclusion: Its expensive coz it melts down in 10 days for one person but I liked the way it keeps skin soft.

Home Made Mosquito Repellent

I have a baby doll of one & a half year. She is damn naughty & rarely stays at home especially in the evening & we have a garden which is more prone place for mosquitoes. I tried mosquito repellents available in the market but they were pathetic, they never worked after 15 minutes .Then my hubby suggested me to use neem oil as a mosquito repellent. I got it from some local store which is very famous for making all kind of organic oils.

Neem oil is taken from the seeds of the neem tree. It looks dark brown in color & it smells yuck & for that I mixed few drops of lemon grass essential oil (I used fab india lemon grass essential oil) with neem oil. And the results are amazing, I apply this oil to my baby’s skin immediately before she goes in the garden & mosquitoes stay away from her completely. You can also apply it on the already affected/swollen areas; it will reduce that swelling& itching.
You have to apply this evenly on the skin & reapply it in every 2 hours. The amazing results will be in your hands.

Delicious & Healthy Juice Recipe (health drink)

To be beautiful you do not only need make up or proper skin care but you should also keep your body healthy inside. Today I am sharing one of my favorite juice recipes which is very good for skin & health. This helps in detoxifying body.
Cucumber & musk melon juice:
I take both of them in equal quantity & just grind them in juicer. You can add some salt or sugar or both the ingredients as per you liking. I just add a pinch of black salt.
Benefits of this juice: cucumber is a rich source of vitamin A which is a fat-soluble vitamin and antioxidant that plays an important role in helping you with your eyesight, bone growth, reproduction and cell division. It prevents constipation, control blood sugar level & regulate blood pressure and also a good source of calcium & sodium.
Benefits of musk melon: the fruit is high in dietary fiber and helps people who suffer from constipation. It is concentrated with excellent levels of beta-carotene, folic acid, potassium and vitamins C and A. So, if you are looking for healthy and younger skin, this is what you should include in your daily diet. The potassium content helps excrete sodium, and thus brings down high blood pressure. This fruit is great for menstruating women as it helps reduce heavy flow and clots.

Aura Vedic Pure Lightening Skin Polish Sandal & Turmeric(product review)

be beautiful with punam

I am a scrub bug whether its trying something home made or any ready to use scrubs, I am always ready coz I just love my soft skin after scrubbing J
This time I tried auravedic sandal turmeric scrub. As I mentioned about this rarely heard brand in my earlier review here (auravedic harmonising hair cleanser)that I saw it in Mumbai & I picked few things, one of them is a scrub. I love this brand coz they use natural ingredients in there products.
be beautiful with punam

Price: 300 INR for 100 g
be beautiful with punam

No parabens , no sls , no harmful chemicals , wow my skin is smiling J.I was very much impressed reading its ingredients  like kokum butter which is a substitute of cocoa butter & rich in fatty acids. Kokum butter is composed of beneficial compounds that helps to regenerate skin cells.
Sandal &  turmeric are its main ingredients & the most commonly heard ingredients for skin care especially by nanny’s& mommy’s .We all are aware of there qualities but let me remind you once again.
Sandal helps in reducing blemishes, acne & its scars; it heals scrapes, rashes, dry & itchy skin because of its cooling properties.
Turmeric: helps in treating infection, gives glowing & fair skin.

My experience:
Sadly I have few blackheads, some of them are old & some are new, some keeps reoccurring at the same placeL
Uff my only enemies are blackheads & for killing them I keep trying scrubs (as an weaponJ).
Well coming to this scrub, it’s a very soft scrub with a very light fragrance which is herbal & natural.
It’s absolutely not harsh or abrasive to skin coz granules are very tiny & soft.
Never left my skin with a film that most of the scrubs did especially on those parts where I prefer to scrub slightly more to get good result like the corners of lips & nose.
It left the skin clean & soft (as its really moisturizing)
Though it’s so much enriched with butters it never broke me out. I used it as a body scrub as it’s mainly a body polish scrub only but it’s so gentle that it couldn’t exfoliate my skin that nicely, I was just left with a smooth & light scented skin.
During winters I used it on my face before going to bed without following my moisturizer & it kept my skin completely moisturizing. I think it’s completely buttery.
It’s mainly for skin lightening & I noticed some clarity & brightened skin every time I use it.
Being a scrub I expect it do something for my blackheads & it worked on soft & new blackheads as well as white heads but not good for deep blackheads. As the granules are very soft it never hurt my skin. So I think every one should try this, it can be used daily & it’s good for all skin type,it can do wonders for dry skin.

Auravedic outlets are only in few cities like: Mumbai, Hyderabad, Pune, Banglore & Goa. It is also available online on
